BIAFRA: NNAMDI KANU, REALLY A BRITISH CITIZEN?

BIAFRA:
NNAMDI KANU, REALLY A BRITISH CITIZEN?
NNAMDI KANU

Citizenship is the exclusive privilege given to a member, also known as ‘citizen,’ of a particular state to exercise civil and political rights. Otherwise referred to as ‘nationality,’ the term vests rights and responsibilities to members under the laws of that country and entitles them to participate in its public life and affairs.
The most common proof of British citizenship is the possession of a British passport. Having asserted this, it is not in doubt that Nnamdi Kanu is a British citizen since he possesses a British Passport.
Some of the rights stated in The Human Rights Act 1998 include:
• The right to life
• The right to be free from torture and treatment of a degrading nature
• To be free from slavery and labour that is forced and not of free will
• The right to freedom and liberty
• The right to have a fair trial in the event of criminal accusation
• That if you do something that later becomes deemed as a crime, that
you will not be punished if it is criminalised after the event
• The right to have your private and family life respected
• The right to free thought, conscience and religion and the right to freely express your personal beliefs
• Freedom of expression
• The right of freedom of assembly and association
• The right to get married and to start a family if you wish
• The right not to be discriminated against in regards to any of these rights or freedoms
• The right to enjoy your property in peace
• The right not to be sentenced to death (freedom from the death penalty)
British government cannot deny the knowledge of the illegal detention of Citizen Nnamdi Kanu by Nigeria’s DSS, neither will she claim ignorant of the fact that court of competent jurisdiction has ruled and ordered for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu but DSS refused to obey the court order.
Nnamdi Kanu is undergoing severe inhuman torture and treatments of a degrading nature; in fact he has been totally deprived of his Human Right as written in the Human Right Act of 1998. His is lawyer is not allowed to see him neither his doctor or family members which include his wife and parents. I see this as a slap on the face of the government of Great Britain and the human right that she protects by Nigerian government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
But it is surprising that the British government is doing little or nothing to protect the right of her citizen Nnamdi Kanu who is helpless in the hands of Nigerian government, even when a court of competent jurisdiction has ordered for his unconditional release and he is still being held. This is unlike the Great Britain that I know, the protector of the rights of her citizen’s and the common man.
However I must draw the attention of the British government that, till date, Citizen Nnamdi Kanu is not under any court remand in Nigeria and is presently held under President Buhari’s personal order. While Sections 293, 294 and 296 of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act of 2015 forbid any authority or person other than Magistrate and High Court to detain any citizen beyond 24hrs or 48hrs without court remand for maximum of 28 days without trial; Section 35 (4) (a) of the 1999 Constitution further forbids detention of any citizen accused of committing offense of capital punishment (life jail or death sentence) for more than 60 days or two months without being released on bail or appropriately charged to court."
Moreover, Nnamdi Kanu's wife and kids are in the UK and they need him over there, his wife just had a new baby and this baby needs his daddy. I urge the British government to do the needful, protect her citizen Nnamdi kanu, take him back to UK before he dies in the hands of Nigerian government unless President Mohammadu Buhari is playing a scrpt written by the British.

Boko Haram terrorists killed 7 in suicide attack

Boko Haram terrorists gunmen have mounted their first attacks since Nigeria’s government declared them “technically” defeated, killing seven people in a raid and suicide bombing, residents told AFP Wednesday.

The attacks happened on Tuesday in the northeastern state of Borno, near the Islamists’ Sambisa Forest hideout, where the army is looking to flush out remnants of the rebel group.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who has made crushing the rebellion a priority, in December said a sustained counter-offensive had reduced the group’s ability to strike effectively.

The first attack happened in Izgeki village, said one resident, who gave his name as Isyaku, from the town of Mubi in neighbouring Adamawa state.

“I received information from my relatives who fled the attack… that some Boko Haram gunmen on bicycles attacked Izgeki across the river from Izghe on Tuesday morning where they killed two people.

“The attack forced villagers to cross the river into Izghe. The gunmen pursued them. One of them who had a suicide belt on him blew himself up near the market, killing five people.”
Izghe was previously attacked in February 2014 where more than 100 people were killed as the rebels torched homes, opened fire and set off explosives.

Thousands of residents fled the attack into Adamawa towards the town of Madagali and elsewhere but following the army’s recapture of territory, some managed to return and begin reconstruction.

Izghe is in the district of Gwoza, which Boko Haram captured in August 2014 and which the group’s shadowy leader Abubakar Shekau declared the centre of its self-styled caliphate.

Ayuba Chibok, an elder in the town of the same name, said there was also an attack in the nearby village of Nchiha at about 10:00 pm (2100 GMT) on Tuesday.

“Luckily no-one was hurt but they (Boko Haram gunmen) looted food and burnt a large part of the village,” he added. Residents managed to flee.

Boko Haram kidnapped some 276 girls from their school in Chibok in April 2014 in a daring raid that captured world attention. Fifty seven escaped soon afterwards but 219 are still being held.

Exposing the lie called “Biafra government

Nigerians and Biafrans alike were recently served a huge pie of lie, which was that Biafra government was being formed by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). To make the news plausible, pictures of a newly completed and glittering building – resembling a hotel complex – was shown as secretariat of the new government.
Biafrans were excited. But in their euphoria of excitement, they did not look at the issues well or study critically the photograph that was shown to them. They did not see in the photograph that there was nothing indicative of the presence of a country’s secretariat in the picture. There were no flags there, not even a single Biafra flag, and the houses and the environment were not touched with even a dash of any Biafran colour.
It is necessary now to expose the lie about the so-called Biafran government, and to tell the people what a big scam it is. But to show how amateurish the promoters of the lie were, they could not, at least, host a Biafran flag (probably with other countries’ flags) to dismantle them immediately after the photo-shoot. No wonder former Nigerian dictator, Olusegun Obasanjo, few weeks ago described Biafran agitators as miscreants looking for ways to extort money from government.
But the good news today is that Obasanjo has seen that real Biafrans are truly on the barricade and pushing for Biafra strongly. He has seen the huge protests, the media onslaught, and several other pro-Biafra activities that have proved to Nigerians that there are hardcore Biafrans who are fighting to have their country restored. Obasanjo and Nigeria know that the leader of that genuine struggle, Nnamdi Kanu, is currently in detention but slugging it out with Nigerian government in court and winning.
This explainswhy lying about the forming of a Biafran government now cannot be anything more than people positioning themselves to be bribed by the Nigerian government. Unfortunately Nigerian government is falling for their pranks, as the outrageous amount budgeted in the 2016 indicated. The budget showed that Nigerian government, among other things padded the budget and planned to borrow funds from Arab countries to bribe Biafrans into jettisoning their struggle. But they are mistaken, real Biafrans cannot be bribed. That is why the IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu has as one of its slogans, “we are whiter than white and whiter than snow; we cannot be bribed”. (We understand today that the budget has been withdrawn as the people have been exposing the scam that is imbedded in it).
Instructively, the nuisance of those claiming to be forming a Biafran government is not limited to Nigeria and Biafraland alone, their agents have also gone to other parts of the world, scamming and hoodwinking government agents by claiming they were the real IPOB, and that Nnamdi Kanu was a usurper. Rather than work for the release of their brother, Kanu, who is in the enemy camp; rather than work wholeheartedly for the restoration of Biafra, they are busy concocting and executing schemes for crumbs from their masters’ table.
Point blank, the group claiming to run a government of Biafra is BILIE Human Rights Initiative. Its members have been identified as agents of Nigerian government being used to distort and destroy the Biafra struggle from within. It is instructive to note here that back in 2002 the group went to court, claiming to be in the vanguard of achieving Biafra independence through legal means. Then it was in partnership for the struggle with Radio Biafra.
Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), was a term descriptive of the people inhabiting Biafraland and a sort of catch-phrase for the Biafran struggle. It was a brainchild of the partnership between Radio Biafra and BILIE Human Rights Initiative. Nobody could claim patent to it, or claim it as his/her intellectual property. It was not a political movement, neither was it a legal entity. As a matter of fact, Nigerian government did not recognize it even as a description of those who inhabit the land for it argued that much in court – that there was nothing like indigenous people of Biafra. But real Biafrans under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu know that it existed, which was why they took the challenge to make it known to the world. And they succeeded!
It was under Kanu that IPOB was made a political movement and a legal body that it is today. They were the ones that registered it as a legal body in many countries of the world, and also at the United Nations (UN).
Another product of the partnership BILIE and Radio Biafra was Biafra Council of Elders, a body of elders that was appointed by the partnership to act as leaders and arrowhead of the struggle. But unfortunately, along the line, accusations were labeled against BILIE for attempting to hijack the struggle and turn itself (a mere human rights group) into the government of Biafra. It was accused of having cornered the Council of Elders for this purpose. This led to the partnership being truncated.
Part of the reasons the partnership was ditched was not only because BILIE wanted to hijack the struggle as Biafra government, it was also because it and the Council of Elders were found to be hobnobbing with Nigerian politicians (asking them for funds to prosecute the struggle) which was an anathema to those at Radio Biafra, and its followers. True Biafrans were operating with the philosophy that Nigerian politicians and money bags should not be allowed to fund the struggle. There was the belief that once elections were near, that they would try to hijack the group (as they did with MASSOB under Ralph Uwazuruike) and then use it to prosecute their elections, thereby jettisoning the struggle.
Uche Mefor, Deputy Leader of IPOB and Deputy Director of Radio Biafra had this to write concerning the partnership: “But after finding out that the so-called council of Elders (indeed appointed by Nnamdi Kanu and hijacked by BILIE) has been criss-crossing Abuja and conniving with the Nigerian government to keep Biafrans in bondage, they were jettisoned. The so-called SCE and BILIE are political contractors”.

What happened after the collapse of the Radio Biafra/BILIE partnership was that the two groups chose their parts and pursued it. Radio Biafra chose the part of political action to achieve Biafra, while BILIE and its Council of Elders chose the part of hobnobbing with Nigerian government, claiming they were working to achieve Biafra through peaceful and legal means. That was how they got funding from Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to fund their Internet radio: Biafra Voice International (BVI), a station which its sole preoccupation was to run-down Nnamdi Kanu and Radio Biafra.
But Kanu and his group through Radio Biafra’s numerous followers around the world labored day and night to take the Biafra quest off the ground. They spent their time, spent their money, and tasked their intellect to bring about the ubiquitous and irrepressible IPOB that is known everywhere around the world today. Yes, let it be stated again that it was Radio Biafra and its followers that made IPOB a political movement and a legal body that it is today. They were the ones that registered it as a legal body in many countries of the world, and also at the United Nations (UN), while BILIE and its Council of elders pursued contracts and political appointments from Nigerian government. It was after Radio Biafra and its followers turned IPOB a political movement and grew it to what it is today – a political force – that BILIE started throwing up its Council of Elders as leaders of IPOB and leaders of Biafra government.
Let it be known today that Biafra has no government yet. Biafrans have not voted at any time to have a government. BILIE and its Council of Elders claim to be fighting for Biafra through legal means and went to court to ask for Biafra. So, has the Nigerian court mandated them to establish a government for Biafrans? The answer is a capital “NO!”
So if they claimed to be pursuing Biafra through legal means, how come they are establishing a government through “illegal means”? Biafrans and world governments should beware of these men.

Buhari stands alone

Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, is now standing alone as a result of what many people see as his pride and arrogance in handling many national, constitutional and legal in the country. The Nigerian maximum ruler has run himself into a cul-de-sac, chiefly as a result of his repeated refusal to obey court orders, particularly the one requiring him to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, from his gulag.
Instead of letting Kanu go, as ordered by the courts, the dictator – through his Gestapo chief at Directorate of State Security Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura – rather threatened the Biafran leader to sign an undertaking or be slammed with fresh charges bordering on treason. The undertaking was that neither Kanu nor any Biafran would seek the independence of Biafra again. But Kanu called their bluff and bluntly refused to sign the undertaking. That was why they attempted to re-arraign him again last Wednesday, December 23.
But incourt they met a brilliantly fiery and determined Kanu who took them to the cleaners, showing to the world their stupidity and emptiness. Kanu declared to them that he was not ready to subject himself to another trial, which would not be respected like the ones he subjected himself to in the past. He said he would prefer to remain in detention indefinitely.
To make matters worse for the arrogant dictator and his goons, the Judge, Mohammed Diri, said the Biafran leader has the right to reject the trial because “justice is rooted in confidence”. He explained that “if any of the parties had no confidence in the court, he had the right to do same.
In addition Justice Diri queried the prosecutor, “assuming it was the prosecution, if they had no confidence in the courts of Jurisdiction’ would they not have done so?” He then disqualified himself from the case and remitted it back to the Chief Judge of the court to reassign to another judge.
Without doubt, the attempt by Buhari to re-arraign Kanu again after disobeying previous court orders that went against him (Buhari) was the height of his numerous illegal and unconstitutional actions that must no longer be ignored. Even individuals, who previously supported his onslaught against Kanu, IPOB, and Biafrans, have started criticizing him for, according to them, he had made mockery of, not only Nigerian Judiciary, but also the country as a whole.
Others have described him as someone running a “trial and error” or “try your luck” government. They view his constant redrafting of charges against Kanu, hoping that one would click and nail Kanu for him, as stupid. They wondered why he thought the world would take such a verdict serious when he did not obey the past judgments of the courts that went against him.
All in all, Buhari is now virtually standing alone. The man once seen by many gullible Nigerians as a man on messianic mission to redeem the country is now seen in many quarters as an abrasive irritant in government. Individuals and groups are now on his neck, both within and outside the country, criticizing him with hash words and criticisms.
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) was one of such groups. In a recent statement, it called on the National Assembly to prevail on Buhari to sack Daura, the Director General of DSS, as well as to make Buhari abide by the country’s constitution by complying with the bidding of the courts. HURIWA found faults with the government picking and choosing court orders that favour it to obey.
It said of Daura: “Does the Director General of the Department of State Security Services require another professional training (having come from a rustic post-retirement background he was resurrected from by Buhari) to know that under the constitution, which is the supreme law of Nigeria, the security agency must comply with binding orders and can’t choose which of the court orders to obey”.

The National Director of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko, who made the statement also called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); Chief Justice of the Federation; and organized pro-democracy and civil society community to unanimously condemn the action of the DSS.
One of the individuals that came hard on Buhari was John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja. “You should, as ordered by the court, ask the DSS to obey court orders, release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and tender an unreserved apology to him for the embarrassment you have caused him, and his pregnant wife, family, and millions of his followers by detaining him and infringing on his rights without good reason” Onaiyekan told him.
Onaiyekan also added: “It will be in your best interest and in the best interest of Nigeria that you obey court orders and apologize to the people for the embarrassment you have caused us which led to peaceful demonstration in virtually major parts of Southern Nigeria”.
Former governor of Zamfara State, a staunch Muslim sharia advocate, faulted Buhari on his strategy to stop the Biafra agitation. He considered Buhari and his government to be in error using guns and bullets to try to stop them. He said guns and bullets would not be able to stop “the current Biafra agitation” as was the case between 1967 and 70.
“I don’t believe in using force to make them succumb, submit or follow Nigeria and stay in Nigeria…These people are people that want self-determination. They believe that they are homogenous in terms of tribe, language and culture and they want to live together and have their own country”.
He advised Buhari not to see the Biafran agitators as secessionists because they have legitimate right under the constitution to express their views on any issue.
Ibuchukwu Ezike, Executive Director of Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), the foremost human rights group in Nigeria expressed extreme shock at Buhari’s attitude. He said the dictatorship Buhari has foisted on Nigeria is so terrible that there is nothing anybody he is trying can do than to appeal to God. “I have not seen this type of dissident and embarrassing behavior anywhere in the world. The man is embarrassing Nigeria all over the world. I don’t think it is necessary that Nnamdi Kanu should agree to stand trial with any other court under Buhari until the order of the court is adhered to” he said.
People like Catholic Father Matthew Kukah, Wole Soyinka, the Nobel Laureate; and a host of other eminent Nigerians have given many reasons why Buhari’s strategy of containing the Biafrans was totally wrong. Even some previously noisy and arrogant supporters began to take the mellow part of the argument. Some of them like his fellow former military dictator Olusegun Obasanjo, who last month described Biafran agitators as miscreants, have swallowed his usually over-bloated ego. Recently, rather than his usual bluffing arrogance whenever the issues of Biafra agitation was raised, he called for communication rather than war.
As if that was not enough, Buhari incurred the wrath of more Nigerians, mainly those from the judiciary, who told him to keep to his powers as provided by the constitution.

NIGERIA: RISE UP NBA, SANs & INTERSOCIETY- BLASTING BUHARI IS NOT ENOUGH

NIGERIA:
RISE UP NBA, SANs &  INTERSOCIETY-  BLASTING  BUHARI IS NOT ENOUGH
Going by the word of The leadership of International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law that it is deeply dismayed concerning brazen falsehood being spread by the Presidency of Muhammadu Buhari and its procured agents, saying that Citizen Nnamdi Kanu was recently released and rearrested for charges of treasonable felony and four other lesser charges. We are not surprised at such falsehood and its originators; the Buhari’s administration, particularly owing to the fact that the foundation of the administration is laid on incurable falsehood and propaganda.
And that the truth is that Citizen Nnamdi Kanu had never been released on bail or unconditionally from the DSS custody since his arrest on 14th October 2015 till date. He had also never been rearrested since then. While Citizen Sambo Dasuki; recklessly accused of committing multiple offenses, was released on bail twice and rearrested twice including being placed under house arrest; Citizen Nnamdi Kanu was treated in harsher manner, by being detained for eighty (80) days without a single day of breath of freedom till date. This clarification is extremely important so as to disabuse the minds of all Nigerians and members of the international community targeted for contamination by the Presidency of Muhammadu Buhari and its hired agents who are desperately looking for escape routes, excuses or justifications over their abominable policy of judicial mockery, subjugation and suppression; which President Buhari recently and openly lent credence to.
NBA, SANs and INTERSOCIETY should do more. Blasting president Muhammdu Buhari on the news paper is not enough, you should understand that he is a daft, and can’t be moved by your blast on paper, notwithstanding that the fact has been said. My point here is; Nigerian Bar Association, SANs, INTERSOCIETY and other human right activists should take to the street and protest, you can go on strike, citizens of Nigeria, lovers of freedom, equity and justice should wake up and practically protest the dictatorship of Muhammadu Buhari which is leading Nigeria to anarchy. The song Nigerians should be singing now is “THE RULE OF LAW MUST BE RESPECTED/OBEYED".
Is it not obvious that the judiciary has been murdered, human right now under the feet of General muhammadu Buhari, and the rule of law massacred? This implies that soonest, it will be needless to go to court, because the rule of law will not be respected anymore. I hope you don’t expect the citizen to obey the law when the so called president is not respecting the rule of law. If NBA, SANs and INTERSOCIETY fails to do the needful, I bet you, your honorable profession will soon be gone.
Today, it is Nnamdi Kanu and Sambo Dasuki, who knows who is next?
Free Nnamdi Kanu Now.
